Reading despite Marrying!

Kimmy

Despite getting married, I still have been reading!  My most recent read was "Seeds of Turmoil" by Bryant Wright. This book caught my eye when I saw it because it was a review and explanation of the turmoil and hatred that exists today between Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Having spent two years of my life living among Muslims and sharing my own Christian faith with them as I lived life there - the hatred and anger between all three religions is very present and very real - sadly.  While I wouldn't put this book specifically at the top of my "educational" reading list - it was a great simple explanation of the history that exists between the three religions and gave perspectives from all three religions, while holding to the Christian faith. Wright spent much of the text devoted to the biblical history that led to the division that exists today between the three religions. This is a super quick read as well as easy to follow and understand - despite the complexities of the relationships that exist between these religions. If you don't know much about these religions and why the hatred exists and what Christian scripture says about it all, I would highly recommend this book. I'm a firm believer that not only should we love our friends and neighbors of different faiths, but we should also be educated on what they believe and why the present day situations exist around the world. Sadly, I believe that many of my Christian brothers and sisters have a hatred for my Muslim friends because they simply don't understand the history that goes back to Abraham and his two sons - long before our time.  {That's a whole other blog though, or soap box...} Great book that I would recommend for those wanted to know and learn about the turmoil that exists and why it exists today!
