Dan and I had only been dating about two to three months, when I dropped the bomb on him that I was moving overseas for almost two years. I have to admit, when I told him about my plans, I thought he would hit the door running, but he didn't! He has walked with me through this crazy journey. One of the things that I have loved about my time over here, is how much I have learned about Dan through our long distance relationship. We have had daily emails each morning and evening, weekly chats, and special dates. It's been work! There are days when it would have been alot easier to put down the computer and go to bed (there is a five hour time difference!) but we both know that we want to make this relationship work. Long Distance Dating is not the easiest thing I have ever done, in fact - it might be the hardest thing that I have ever done. But it's been the most rewarding. As we ventured through this crazy thing called LDR, we both searched for ideas and tips and yet over and over again, all we found were trashy and sleezy ideas. I knew that I wanted to use this time to not only grow closer together but also to honor each other and God. I also knew that I wanted to take our time together and share and help other couples who are in the same place as we are right now. Our ideas are nothing new, some we found online and adapted to fit us as a couple, some we just happened upon, some we've run into the ground, but all have brought us closer to each and strengthened our LDR! Words of advice for you couples out there in a LDR:
- Be creative
- Just have FUN!
