I love apple season - maybe not as much as peach season, but i love it! I think it's all the yummy desserts like apple crisp, apple pie, apple muffins, and apple butter. Oh Man, I'm getting hungry just thinking about all of those yummy things!
A few weeks back, Dan and I met up with his parents and brother for a fun Sunday afternoon of picking apples at Justus Orchards near Hendersonville, NC. I'm not a HUGE fan of picking my own apples because I grew up picking apples for my daddy-o. So to help get me excited about the fun day ahead, I made a special apple-picking bag! If you're gonna pick apples, you need a fun bag, right?!? I had spotted a fun DIY bag on Pinterest and went to work. I bought a canvas bag and fabric paint from Hobby Lobby - then I found an apple and cut it in half and used it like a stamp on the canvas bag. I have to admit that it didn't come out quite like I had planned - it looked more like big butts than cute apples - but with a little tweaking and adding a stem to each apple, it looks much better. I used it that day as Dan and I picked all kinda of apples including Gala, Golden Delicious, and Mutsu. After our hard work of picking apples was over and my fun bag was full, we just had to top it off with a warm apple pie. It's the little things in life like fun bags, warm apple pies, and applepicking with family that I love!
You should totally check out Justus Orchards for a fun afternoon of apple-picking and
Pinterest for all kind of FUN craft ideas!!
