There's been a theme running through my life the last few weeks and it's not one I really like. it's a theme that I have seen played out since I was a little girl, growing up on my daddy's peach farm. He spent a huge amount of time focused on just this.
It's a crucial task that brings life, but there's just something about it that seems painful and it hurts at time. As I search through scripture though, Jesus also reminds us that it's crucial and brings life. Jesus says, "Every branch in Me that does not produce fruit He removes, and He prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit." (John 15:2)
As I studied God's word, it led me to chat with my daddy about why it's so important to prune and his answer was so profound to me... He said, "well Kimmy, if you don't prune, you'll just get wood..." If you know my daddy, that should make you giggle just a bit. He's a simple farmer yet so very wise.
I don't know about you, but I don't want just wood - I want the fruit...
So, as I read God's word, seek His face, and allow Him to prune me, I am reminded that it's for my good and for His glory that I bear much fruit.
What in your life is God pruning away? While it may hurt for the season, be reminded that it's so worth it.
You don't want to be just wood, do you?
